Emberwood Center (EWC) is a program of Mental Health America of Indiana (MHAI).

Emberwood Center promotes growth, respect and integrity through outpatient services that address mental health and addiction issues with individuals and families in central Indiana, specializing in trauma experienced by children and adults alike. We provide individual and family therapy to children and adults, as well as outpatient drug/alcohol and gambling treatment to adolescents and adults. We are certified by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and the State of Indiana, and we deliver the highest quality outpatient treatment services available. Using evidence-based practices (EBP) we ensure the most effective and efficient approach to assisting individuals and families on their path to recovery.

HIGHEST QUALITY COUNSELING SERVICES:

Counseling at EWC is delivered by a multidisciplinary team, with all staff trained in trauma-informed care and cultural diversity (among other areas). All clinical staff are trained in various issues like, addiction and recovery; gambling disorder; depression; anxiety; trauma and complex trauma; family reunification; domestic violence; human trafficking; attachment; sexually reactive children; and issues faced by LGBTQ+, veterans, and refugees. Our clinical team is supervised by a Clinical Psychologist (HSPP) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor and is assembled by Master’s level and Licensed Therapists trained in models like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Neuro-feedback, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, as well as Art Therapy.


PAYMENT OPTIONS:

Emberwood Center accepts various private insurance, Medicaid, and HIP plans, and we have a sliding fee scale based on income for out-of-pocket pay. As a Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) contracted agency, EWC has access to funding through the Hoosiers Assurance Program, Recovery Works, and Problem Gambling Treatment that allow us to provide many free of charge services to qualifying clients.  EWC also receives a grant from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) to provide free of charge therapy and advocacy services to individuals that have been victims or witnesses of a crime.


LOCATION:

Emberwood Center is located in downtown Indianapolis and Franklin, IN. Since 1979, we have been dedicated to serving our neighbors in the community who are most at-risk and in need of supportive services. Though historically focused on a particular geographic location, our doors are open to any individual seeking treatment as we have recently developed tele-therapy options to maintain social distancing and protect our staff and clients for contracting COVID-19.

Emberwood Center has been accredited by CARF since 2008.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit organization focused on advancing the quality of services and assure the best possible outcomes.  CARF provides accreditation services worldwide at the request of health and human service providers.  Providers that meet CARF standards have demonstrated their commitment to being among the best available.

Emberwood Center is able to provide low cost services to people needing addiction services, due to funding received by the Indiana’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction, part of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.

Emberwood Center is able to provide free counseling and advocacy services to victims of crime, due to the funding received by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
